In a report examining myths and realities in the software industry, Stefan Ried, Ph.D., of Forrester Research highlighted the value of custom application development, stating that there’s no need to purchase a major suite of package software “if you need only a small part of it.” Having said that let’s compare the prices at which this value can be obtained.
According to the survey published by Kinvey in November, 2014, 56% of mobile leaders say that on average it takes over 6 months to build a single mobile application. 58% claim they spend anywhere from $500,000 to over $1,000,000 per app. Not surprisingly, half of the surveyed CIOs believe this process takes too long, and 24% feel frustrated by it.
A recent report by Clutch states that the median cost range is between $37,913 and $171,450 but could climb up to $500,000 or higher… The calculated median cost at $100/hour for iPhone app development is $25,275.00 to $114,300.00. The median cost at a higher rate of $150/hour is $37,912.50 to $171,450.00. The maximum cost figures at $100/hour and $150/hour, respectively, were $485,000.00 and $727,500.00.”
