Most people nowadays are literally living, working and studying on their mobile devices, so it comes as no surprise that 2015 has been a hot year for mobile technology. According to Comscore, “this year people spend at least 54% of their digital media time interacting with mobile apps”. As for the business, enterprise mobility has significantly increased and strengthened this year. In fact, basedon the SOTI report, “25% of CIOs are spending 20-50% of their budgets on mobile technology and enterprise mobility tendency will continue to lead the way in 2016”.
2016 Is Almost Here
One of the many issues that concerns us today is what to expect from mobile solutions next year. Here are some thoughts and predictions from experts in Eddie Lockhart’s article on this.
Bob Egan, Chief Research Officer at Sepharim Research, predicts that “For a lot of companies, one of the moves that is likely to happen is beefing uptheir architecture in the way it secures information, as opposed to securing devices”. He also adds that “In 2016 we’ll enter an era very much focused on apps for work and for getting things done, which are likely to be tied to Internet of Things”.
Jack Gold, Principal Analyst at J. Gold Associates, ensures us that the future is behind affordable custom mobile apps: “I see a refocusing on apps that are good enough – that are quick and inexpensive to deploy and can make best use of limited resources”.
Bob O’Donnell, President of TECHnalysis Research, notes, “We’ll see the rise of companion apps — applications that don’t try to replicate everything that a desktop app does. People are trying to take these desktop apps and just move them to mobile when it doesn’t really work. If you make the assumption that mobile isn’t the only option, but just one of several options, then you can start building applications that make a lot more sense, because you use mobile for what it’s good for: data entry and data capture and things you can do when you’re remote”.
