Wonders of the New York City

for blogNew York is the largest city in United States , an architectural marvel with plenty of historic monuments, magnificent buildings and countless dazzling skyscrapers. Besides the architectural delights, New York is an urban jungle that has everything to offer to visitors. The city is home to numerous museums, parks, trendy neighborhoods and shopping streets. Thousands of people live and work here. Everyone dreams to be a part of this big city. Traffic jams, yellow taxis, Broadway, Times Square come to mind when we think about The Big Apple. Nowadays New York is the kernel of American dream, a mixture of different cultures and lifestyles. This city changes as rapidly as ads in Times Square.

Snappii introduces some facts you didn`t know about NYC:

The first Sketchy Fire Hydrant appeared in 1808 in New York City. Most of them  are kept in place nowadays, so the city could collect more parking tickets from New Yorkers and unsuspecting tourists.

Nowadays when we think about the New York Skyline, most of us imagine tall skyscrapers. But in the first year of NYC the same area of that famous skyline was actually dominated by a windmill that towered over the other buildings.

The average temperature of a pavement in New York City on a hot summer day is 150 degrees F. So if you decide to go to the City during the summer, you may want to be careful with your thin-soled shoes if you’re planning to stand outside for a while.

Lady Liberty does have a New York City address, but that happened due to maritime law technicalities from 1664 – a couple of hundred years before the French gave Lady Liberty to the United States in 1886. But regardless of whether you reside in New York or New Jersey, the statue can be seen from both states.
