The Accenture survey of 2000 executives in nine industries and 15 countries shows that 87% of executives believe apps are necessary to fully release the benefits of digital technologies, while 82% think enterprise mobile apps are an integral part of their organization and key to unlocking vital data from across their business. The executives agree on the need for mobile apps to enhance customer engagement, and 44% are using apps as a channel for sales, customer service or information. However, fewer than half of the respondents are taking advantage of apps to improve business efficiency. The study also predicts that apps will grow in importance over time and, according to 85% of survey participants, will be the dominant interface of the future. That said, nowadays, despite the fact that executives believe mobile apps are critical to their business, widespread adoption of apps within the enterprise is yet to come.
